Shadow Cliffs Lake
CA
4/25/2010 - 4/25/2010
7:00 AM
This event has grown to be one of the largest Open Water Swims in the country. We knew there were plenty of triathletes and swimmers in the Bay Area, and we also knew they didn't have many chances to compete in clean open water. So we gave all these athletes the chance to swim (legally) in one of California's best and most scenic reservoirs; UVAS Reservoir. The venue is ideal for competition, offering clean water, warm sun, and a beach party atmosphere.

This open water swim is quickly becoming one of the Bay Area's best summer events.

Silicon Valley Sprint Triathlon (Road & Mtn Bike)

Almaden Lake
San Jose, CA
6/12/2010 - 6/12/2010
8:00 AM
Expanding on the Mountain Bike Triathlon, we have added a sprint distance for road bike enthuasists as well. The bike courses will follow the same route, but the road bike participants will remain on the paved trails and roads throughout. Each course will be clearly marked with cones and flour for easy navigation.

We've turned the Silicon Valley International Triathlon weekend into a two-day celebration of endurance sports. The smaller distances make this Saturday event extra appealing to the first timers and experienced triathletes alike. Adding another sprint distance triathlon a month after Morgan Hill Sprint makes this the beginning of a series of sprint distance triathlons starting in 2010.

The Metro Triathlon follows one of the most historic triathlon race courses in America. It begins with the swim in the calm and temperate waters of Lake Almaden Park. The bike takes you through Almaden Valley into Morgan Hill and back. You will be subject to rolling hills, vistas of the Calero Reservoir, and rural farmland demonstrating San Jose ’s truly dynamic geography. The bike course follows a majority of the local Wednesday night ride and some of the Specialized Morgan Hill Ride, two of the more famous local training rides. The run is stress free on bike paths in and around the park. It is flat and fast with multiple well stocked water stations.
